The classic white shirt never goes out of fashion. A truly timeless garment, it's the workhorse of any wardrobe, looking great either casual or formal.
This sewing class will help you to make a classic button down shirt. We'll provide you with your copy of a printed Vogue sewing pattern plus organic cotton and thread, worth £20! This class uses a sewing pattern, which is a stylish loose fit and features key techniques such as hidden button placket, collar, cuffs and sleeve plackets, pocket (optional) and pleated back. You'll get help on every step to ensure you understand each process in making your first shirt.

The class will run over two Saturdays at The Kaetsu Centre in Cambridge. There will be a week break in between for you to do any homework required to stay on track.
What's included in the class?
The printed Vogue sewing pattern, organic white cotton poplin fabric, organic thread and standard shirt buttons are included in the price of the class. The cotton we supply is fair trade and is GOTS certifed. Equipment such as sewing machine, scissors and tape measure are available to use during the class.
This class is for intermediate sewers who can use a sewing machine and understand patterns. It is the perfect class for people new to sewing shirt techniques such as collars and cuffs. We will guide you through the basics of sewing a classic shirt.
What do I need to bring?
Please bring 1 metre of light fusible white interfacing. Although pins, scissors and tape measure will be provided for you to borrow, please bring your own if you have them as well as pen and paper to take notes.
