Skill level: Confident beginner (The Kaetsu Centre)
Saturday 18th February 2017
How many times do you go to wear your favourite t-shirt or do you struggle to find the perfect t-shirt for your shape? Worse yet, do you question where your t-shirt was made and what the working conditions and pay was like for those making it?
This class will help you to make a classic t-shirt using organic British jersey, which will be provided to you at the start of the class. We'll help you to understand what sewing equipment you need to sew stretch materials and give you the inside tips of the trade to apply neckbands and cuffs like a pro. You'll use the much-loved 'Renfrew' sewing pattern (style A or B in line drawing below) by Canadian designer Sewaholic, which features style options such as long or short sleeves, scoop or v-neck. In our photos we show a cosy long-sleeved version in our natural coloured organic jersey, perfect for Spring. The Sewaholic Renfrew is a really popular pattern in the sewing community and we guarantee you'll wear your t-shirt endlessly.
Our British jersey is GOTS certified. By choosing to make your own t-shirt in organic cotton, you're helping to reduce the environmental and social impact of cotton as well as using fabric that has been produced by people being paid a fair wage in good working conditions.
This class costs £100 and takes place on 18th February (10am - 4pm). A limited number of places remain - you can book by clicking on the PayPal link below. Please ensure you read our class policies.
We are no longer taking bookings for this date.
What's included in the class?
The printed pattern and organic British jersey (black or white) is included in the price of the class. The jersey we supply has been knitted in Britain to very high standards and is GOTS certifed. Equipment such as sewing machine, scissors and tape measure are available to use during the class.
This class is for advanced beginners who can use a sewing machine. It is the perfect class for people new to sewing with stretch fabrics. We will guide you through the basics of working with and using a sewing machine for this type of fabric.
What do I need to bring?
Although pins, scissors and tape measure will be provided for you to borrow, please bring your own if you have them as well as pen and paper to take notes. If you have any questions about fabric or equipment, please email us at email@example.com.
Please click on the pattern line drawing below and select style A or B and colour option when you order above. We ask you to do this so that we can allocate the right amount of fabric to you on the day.
