Learn to Sew Level 1 - Beginner's Sewing Class at Parkside Community College

Class Schedule:  18th January 2017 / 1st February 2017

Skill level: Total Beginner

We're excited to introduce our new Beginner Sewing Class. If you're very new to sewing, this is a great class to get you started.

Taking place on one Wednesday evening, you'll spend 3 hours learning to sew. During the class you will:

  • Get to know a sewing machine (basic overview of a sewing machine including how to thread a machine and tension adjustments)

  • Practice sewing! Learn basic sewing machine stitches & seams

  • Learn to sew a small drawstring bag

The drawstring bag is a useful accessory to store items such as make-up and it's a great sustainable alternative to wrapping paper, perfect for small presents such as toiletries or accessories. We'll provide gorgeous vintage/reclaimed fabrics (first come, first served on choice) as well as extra materials such as cord and trims if you want to decorate your bag. You don't need a sewing machine or equipment, we have lovely Janome 525s machines (as featured on the Great British Sewing Bee), so you just need to turn up and sew!

This class costs £45 and takes place at Parkside Community College (free parking) on the following dates:

18th January (18.30 - 21.30) We are no longer taking bookings for this date.

1st February (18.30 - 21.30) We are no longer taking bookings for this date.

A limited number of places remain. Please ensure you read our class policies.

What's included in the class?

Fabric and materials for the drawstring bag. The fabric we supply for the drawstring bag is vintage or reclaimed fabric as we like to stay as sustainable as possible. Equipment such as sewing machine, scissors and tape measure are available to use during the class.
