Learn to Sew Level 1 - Beginner's Sewing Class

Class Schedule:

20th May 2017, Cofifteen, Cherry Hinton 1-4pm

25th May 2017 Parkside Community College, Cambridge 6.30-9.30pm

Skill level: Total Beginner

We're excited to introduce our second level 1 Beginner Sewing Class. If you're very new to sewing, this is a great class to get you started. What's more, you'll be in gorgeous eatery Cofifteen surrounded by coffee and cake! If you can't make a Saturday afternoon, we are also running this popular class on a Thursday evening at Parkside Community College in the centre of Cambridge.

In this class you'll spend 3 hours learning to sew. During the class you will:

  • Get to know a sewing machine (basic overview of a sewing machine including how to thread a machine and tension adjustments)

  • Practice sewing! Learn basic sewing machine stitches & seams

  • Learn to sew a cushion cover

The cushion cover is a great project to sew for yourself or as a gift. We'll provide the fabric from reclaimed new or vintage fabric (first come, first served on choice) as well as any extra materials such as trims should you want to decorate your cover (time permitting). You don't need a sewing machine or equipment, we have lovely Janome 525s machines (as featured on the Great British Sewing Bee), so you just need to turn up and sew!

This class costs £45 and takes place on the following dates:

20th May 2017 1pm - 4pm (Cofifteen in Cherry Hinton)

25th May 2017 6.30-9.30pm (Parkside Community College, Cambridge)

What's included in the class?

Fabric and materials for the cushion cover. The fabric we supply for the cushion cover bag is either newly sourced ethical fabric, vintage or reclaimed fabric as we like to stay as sustainable as possible. Equipment such as sewing machine, scissors and tape measure are available to use during the class.
